Oh come on Nathan! A Novalith Warhead will go straight through a star destroyer!" I objected. He was trying to prevent his planet from being destroyed.
"What if I had a gravity well nearby?" Nathan countered. I thought for a second.
"Well it would slow down enough for you to destroy but it will still blow up destroying both the gravity well and the star destroyer. While the cannon remains intact back at my planet." I said with a slight tone of defeat. It would work but it just delaying the inevitable for I could shoot another warhead. Then we heard a large roar that came from above us. I could have sworn I flew a few centimeters.
"Shut up both of you!" Gordon roared overhead, "You two are like children!"
Me and Nathan just laughed at the comment for if he were down at the time he would join us. Then I could see Gordon folded his wings and started descending. He was coming down to fast for him to recover in time. He tried to open his wings to slow down but it was futile as his head plowed into the snow.
"First time flying?" I called out to him. Then I heard a muffled noise coming from him. I was trying to calm myself down so I don't start laughing like crazy again. Then I remembered something from the show on the discovery channel last night. There is some type of second mind that would try to merge with Gordon but the same mind was allowing him to control himself by giving motor memory to him. It also said that if they didn't accept that there would be some kind of battle in their head for control of his body. "You know if you defeat that dragon in your head you'll have to learn everything from scratch."You know if you defeat that dragon in your head you'll have to learn everything from scratch." I told him. I saw him pull his head out of the snow. I looked at Nathan and he also had gotten serious when I said that.
"You're right Will," he said calmly after regaining my footing. "I will have to face it... but I won't fight it! I won't!" I thought he went mad but then I remembered that Gordon was a pacifist; a vulgar pacifist at that.
"Then are you going to do?" I asked him.
"Try to make a pact with it...try to befriend it..." he said. Then I was sure he had gone mad. That was one of the craziest ideas I have heard. Although I can't say that I would be to sure what he was dealing with so it might work.
"And if that doesn't work out? What is Plan B?" I asked him.
"I'll fight it," he said sternly, " But you got to promise, that if I don't survive it you have to kill me." I just was in shock of what he just said. I just tried to keep a straight face but I ended up grimacing and I nodded. That was the toughest thing he had told me to do. I tried to stay positive that he would only have to fight it if Plan A didn't work and if he had to fight it he was smart enough to figure some way to defeat it.
"Thanks." he said very softly. I wasn't sure if I could do that of if I was able to do that but I accepted that. Then I could hear some rustling coming from the bushes. I looked over and saw Melissa, she had heard everything we had said. I looked at Gordon, his face filled with horror of what Melissa will say. I looked at Nathan, he was in shock of what Gordon asked me to do. Then I felt guilty and thought what Melissa was going to think of me. I had just said that if things go wrong that I would kill her boyfriend. I looked at Melissa there was horror and confusion on her face. We sat there for about ten minutes in silence then we heard the bell to come back and go to period three. I had drama next and I had to go. I just left without saying anything. I got to my locker and still felt guilty I left for class and when I got there I put my books down and took a seat. I was just going over what had just happened when my friend Stewart came in.
"Hey Stewart." I said as he sat down next to me.
"Hey." he responded.
"Did you hear about the dragon in the port-o-pack." I asked him.
"What, when was this!?" he asked me abruptly.
"This morning." I said.
"I wasn't here I only arrived at lunch." he responded, "Wow, I miss everything. What was it like?"
"I think you mean he, but..." I said and then described him for Stewart.
"Wow, I never thought a dragon would actually come to our school."
"Well one did." I said sparing the details about what happened because he didn't really know him anyway. Then Nick and Omer came and it was the same topic that we stayed on until Mr. M came and we got working. Drama really helped me take my mind off of gordon. The bell rang and it was time to go to math. I grabbed my stuff and headed down. I arrived as Mrs. D was opening the door and I headed in with some other people. I sat down and saw my friends Jake, Mateo and Mackenzie G. arrive. I started talking with Mackenzie when he sat down.
"So, Mackenzie what are your comments on Gordon?" I asked him
"Wow." he replied.
"I heard that M&M was jealous of him." I told Mackenzie. M&M was the nickname for Matthew M.
"Of course he is jealous, he is obsessed with dragons." he responded.
"I wonder if he will be Gordon's stalker from now on?" I said.
"What, who are we talking about?" Jake cut in.
"Gordon." I replied.
"Why what happened?" he asked. I just gave him a blank stare.
"The dragon that has been wondering around."
"Wait, that was Gordon?" he asked.
"Yes." I answered as if he was supposed to know. We continued this chat until the question was brought up.
"Hey Will, what if you turned into a dragon?" Jake asked. I stopped, he had hit a soft spot and I didn't want to think about that.
"Nothing; if I were to turn into a dragon, nothing would change for me. A few minor things may change but nothing major." I replied calmly. I don't like that question to be asked because it is a very touchy subject for me. Mrs. D eventually started the lesson and we got under way. The bell rang to end the day and I got my thing and started to walk down the hall with Mackenzie G. We were talking about Monty Python and the Holy Grail until we got to Stephanie's locker. Stephanie was Mackenzie's Girlfriend and he waits the for her but I cannot as I have to catch the bus or I would have to walk. I got out side and saw Gordon and Melissa talking. Unfortunately I didn't have time to wait as I had to get home. I did see that they were worried about something though. I quickly got to my locker got my stuff and got the bus home. That was the most interesting school day I have ever had.
