"Can you get a mirror?" The large monster in front of me said.
"Bathroom to the right," I said calmly as I pointed toward a small room, "You don't have any wings so you should be fine" He went into the bathroom to check himself over. One of my best friends that I have known for three years just turned into a dragon in front of me. "He is still Gordon, He is still Gordon, He is still Gordon. I muttered to my self trying to calm my nerves. When he stands up he is about two feet taller than me now, and I thought I was tall. He had black scales covering him with large grey scales on the underside from his neck to the tip of his tail. He also had some hair on his hands as well. He also had a snout that came out of his face. His eyes were strange though instead of having slits they seamed more like a dog or wolf's eyes and he had wolf ears. He stood digitigrade with three clawed toes on his feet. He then came out of the bathroom and came right to me and look down upon me. What a strange feeling that was; just a few hours ago I was looking down upon him and now the tables have turned. He then started breathing on me. That was the creepiest thing he has done and a had a shiver down my spine.
"Gordon..." I finally said as I looked into those golden eyes of his.
"Yes Willy?" He said as he grinned at me with those razor sharp teeth of his.
"You need a breath mint." I said breaking the tension. He the attempter to give me the bird but realized his middle finger was gone.
"Damn it." he cursed the fact he had only two fingers. There was a long silence as we just stood there. I felt like there was an elephant in the room. I looked at my watch it was about 2:30 and I was getting hungry.
"I am going to make myself a sandwich, do you want anything?" I asked him
"I guess I will have a ham sandwich. Make that two." I nodded and walked into the kitchen to make the sandwiches. As I started I was pinching myself to quell the butterflies in my stomach and I heard him muttering to himself.
"Holy crap! What am I going to do? What are my parents going to think? How am I going to get home? What am I going to do when I go to school? What are my friends going to think?" I heard him asking himself.
"Gordon, Stop talking to yourself, it makes you sound crazy!" I shouted as I continued preparing the sandwiches. Then I herd a loud bang so I looked out and Gordon was unconscious again.
I went and rushed to his side as he was lying on his back. I could see two sticks growing on his back. His wings must be growing in now. I watched as I could see on each shaft there were three smaller ones on it and they were growing. Then I could see black leathery skin growing over them.
"Gordon wake up!" I said as I started shaking him.
"What is it?'" he replied groggily.
"You have wings now. They just grew on your back." I said as his eyes just lit up.
"I do?!" he shouted with glee. He the stood up quickly and bumped his head on the roof. "Damn it" He lowered his head and examined his new wings. "These are cool! I want to go try them out!" he exclaimed.
"Be my guest, It is minus five out and snowing." I I shot him down.
"Oh right." he said disappointed.
"Better luck next spring!" I tormented him. He then attempted to raise his finger again and then just sat down disappointed again. "Damn it Will, I miss the birdie!"
